WELCOME TO MAE'S

MONDAY THRU FRIDAY ~ 8am-2 pm
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ~ 8am-3 pm

Welcome to the site!  We haven't changed this homepage message in quite a while.  Don't want you the think we've grown lazy, so today we're changing things up a bit.  First off, check out our new menu!  We've added a few new entrees and changed the design of the pages to be more readable.  Take a look.

The Shrimp ‘n Grits is getting rave reviews from those brave enough to go there.  It is a terrific dish.  I tried something similar at a restaurant in Portland early this Spring.  Ours is better, of course.  The Wild Alaskan Smoked Salmon Hash is pretty terrific, too.  We've been smoking salmon (and trout) at the Café for years.  Why had we never thought of putting this hash dish together before now?  What a treat it is.

We also have started making a French toast from French bread that is French-kissed with a little French vanilla.  I know...we do get carried away sometimes....

We've also added some of the entrees that previously were featured on a "Weekend Blunch Specials" list.  Abuelita's Argentinian Empanadas have been a big hit.  My South American friend, Maria, brought me her granny's recipe and taught me how to make them just like her abuelita.  Back home, empanadas are "street food"-the perfect snack or quick bite.  You'll love them.  The Cuban Pork Sandwich also made the regular menu.  The s-l-o-w roasted pork is irresistible.  We don't add ham like many recipes dictate, because we're so happy with the succulent pork with cilantro-garlic mayo, caramelized onions with a few jalapenos and a couple slices of swiss cheese press-grilled on French bread-oh, swooooon.  We're also featuring two taco dishes put together by one of our cooks who came to us from El Salvadore.  He marinates roast pork in a fruity and spicy mixture that elevates the meat to heavenly status for the Tacos Carnitas.  The Grilled Shrimp Tacos are equally cosmic.  Although we favor eggs and thick sliced bacon with homemade buttermilk biscuits for the perfect breakfast, these tacos make great eye-openers, along with a couple cups of our in-house roasted coffee.

  *** NEWS FLASH! ***

Our list of Eggs Benedict variations has grown and we've added them to our everyday menu.  Mae's Fav is the Corned Beef Hash Benny.  Try it next time you pay us a visit.  Make it sooner rather than later.

Looking forward to seeing you sooner!
